Iran sets 'red lines': Hormuz will not open without ceasefire in

Iran has announced that it will keep the Strait of Hormuz closed until a full ceasefire in Lebanon comes into effect and other conditions of the agreement with the United States are met. The news was confirmed by Iranian state media, citing sources close to the negotiating team and the Khatam al-Anbia Central Command.

According to the Tasnim News Agency, the strait will remain blocked until a ceasefire is reached between Israel and Hezbollah, and exemptions are granted from international sanctions that allow the sale of Iranian oil, including the release of billions of dollars in frozen assets.

Although Lebanon is not a direct party to the US-Iran talks, Tehran has long made it clear that any progress in the nuclear negotiations requires a ceasefire on the Lebanese front, as Iran considers Hezbollah a key part of the "axis of resistance."

This development comes at a delicate moment, just days after a temporary agreement between Iran and the US to reopen the strait in exchange for steps towards limiting its nuclear program.

However, continued Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon have led Iran to withdraw its move, calling it a flagrant violation of the agreement reached on June 17.

The Iranian military, through the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has warned all ships to avoid passing through the strait until further notice.
