Around 8,500 individuals and entities have generated around 40 million euros in revenue from renting out apartments through the AirBnb platform in 2024.
For reservations on the platform, individuals or businesses that have rented out properties have paid around 1.7 million euros in commissions.
The data has been made public by the tax administration.
The General Directorate of Taxes has requested that income from daily rental apartments be declared by completing the Annual Personal Income Declaration (DIVA). After declaration, the income is taxed at 15%.
The deadline for their declaration is March 31st, otherwise penalties will apply.
"During the period January-December 2024, over 8,472 individuals and entities have sold accommodations through the Airbnb platform in Albania.
The total value of reservations reached 3,816,021,288 lek, while platform commissions amounted to 167,591,014 lek.
The Tax Administration has data on reservations and income generated through the Airbnb platform, therefore it invites individuals and entities that have secured income from providing accommodation through this platform to declare them in the Annual Personal Income Declaration - DIVA 2025, in accordance with the tax legislation in force, to avoid possible controls and penalties.
"Attention! Deadline for DIVA declaration: March 31, 2026," the tax administration's announcement states.
