Professor of Finance, Evarist Stoja, commenting on the situation of devaluation of the euro in our country, said that the measures that are being taken now will give the effect after a year and a half.
Asked in an interview for "Panorma TV", if it is the moment for Albania to make the euro the official currency, Stoja said that 'the euro has become a semi-official currency.'
According to him, 'the adoption of the euro unilaterally means not only a lack of control over the euro, but also of influence on the monetary policies of the eurozone - as according to him - Albania will not be a member with full rights to send a representative to headquarters of the central bank".
" Adopting the currency unilaterally requires great care, because you have no control, but no influence. I believe that this situation we are in will pass. But at some point it may happen that a stability with the euro is reached and the lek weakens a little.
What would happen if Albania were far from experiencing a crisis like that of Greece? If Albania were to adopt the euro unilaterally, I cannot answer this question. On the other hand, if you keep the lek, this kind of scenario that I laid out, this can be overcome with the devaluation of the currency. It should be treated carefully, it is interesting, but a serious answer will take at least a year to be given", said the professor.
