Transactions in the field of real estate, engagement in the military industry and recently entry into the banking sector indicate an intensification of economic cooperation between Albania and Israel.

This development is also supported by the political rapprochement between the two countries, reflected in Prime Minister Edi Rama's recent visit to Tel Aviv.

One of the most important steps was the purchase, in June, of 49 percent of the shares from the company "Timak", which cooperates with KAYO, the state-owned company that will deal with the production and trade of weapons.

In parallel, Israeli investors received approval from the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania for the licensing of "JET Bank", a bank that will operate entirely digitally.

At the same time, the presence of Israeli capital has expanded significantly in the Albanian real estate market, where a significant number of companies have opened branches or new entities. If in 2023 there were 42 Israeli businesses registered and in 2024 39, their number reached 105 last year.

Statistics from the Institute of Statistics also show a strong increase in Albanian exports to Israel. Over the past year, the value of exported goods almost tripled, going from 3.9 million euros in 2024 to 11.2 million euros.

On the other hand, imports from Israel have declined. From 50.1 million euros in 2024, they fell to 27.6 million euros last year. Military tensions have also negatively affected tourist flows, leading to a decline in the number of Israeli visitors after the significant increase recorded in 2023.

Although the interest of Israeli companies in the Albanian market is growing, direct investments still remain at low levels.

According to the Bank of Albania, at the end of the third quarter of this year, the stock of Israeli investments was less than 7 million euros. In summary, over the last decade, the political rapprochement between Albania and Israel has encouraged greater interest from the Israeli private sector to invest in the country, although in still modest numbers.
