The use of the Euro instead of the Lek, Arben Malaj: De-euroization in these proportions will not be successful!

The former Minister of Finance Arben Malaj sees with optimism the proposal of the governor of the Bank of Albania Gent Sejko to stop the use of the euro instead of the lek in Albania.

In the show 'Confrontation' on Report TV, Malaj said that a multi-dimensional strategy is needed and that it will be impossible to implement a national strategy to limit the use of the Euro.

" With these data that we have about the scale of the euro in the Albanian economy, the strategy is advised to be very dimensional and long-term. We need a strategy with measurable indicators and maximum cooperation. I am not optimistic that the strategy of de-euroization in these dimensions will to be successful. It is impossible, no matter how much the Central Bank wants to, you cannot clear 87% of deposits and loans with an administrative decision that will never be taken. I appreciate it, but it will be impossible to implement a national strategy to limit the use of the Euro. In one way or another we will nurture informality ", said Malaj.
