Almost euphoric optimism for an even better year, justified by expectations to welcome 14 million foreigners, is prompting businesses in the car rental market to import more vehicles. Data from the General Directorate of Road Transport Services show that over 50,000 cars were imported and registered in the first half of the first year of the year.

"Requests for this year compared to last year are 3 times higher. They are statistics generated by our systems. Of course, the price varies depending on the booking and the time of booking, where those who booked earlier benefited from the cheapest prices. The average price is 40-45 euros, which includes VAT, technical assistance", Andi Allushi, agent of the rental vehicle market, tells A2 CNN.
Depending on what foreign tourists and Albanian emigrants who return for vacations and weddings in their homeland are looking for, most of the vehicles imported in the months of January-June are of the "Volkswagen" brand, followed by Mercedes Benz, Audi , Hyundai, Toyota, Ford, Fiat and BMW.

"Albanians rent cars but they prefer the cheapest price and not the best service. "Foreigners prefer cars with an average price, but with low engine power in order not to spend too much", says Allushi.
With the massive tourist season almost at its peak, car rental companies are facing a problem... that of booking every possible vehicle. "For July and August, we don't have any free means. In our language we have made "stop sale". We need to increase the fleet", says Allushi.
Data from the General Directorate of Transport Services show that there are 914,925 registered vehicles in the country, the highest number ever recorded in the country's history./ A2CNN
