The reform undertaken by the government during 2023 to increase wages will be finalized by the end of 2024.
The decision "On the approval of the document of priority policies 2025-2027", published in the Official Gazette, determines the new salary levels that are intended to be reached by the end of 2024 for employees of the central administration, local government, doctors, teachers and the nurses.
Based on this reform, it is intended that in 2024, the average salary in the central budget administration, from 71,630 lek currently, will go to about 107,257 lek/month, or about 900 euro/month at the end of 2024.
There will also be salary increases for the employees of the apparatus in the local self-government units, aiming to narrow the gap that exists between this category and the employees of the central institutions.
For this reason, the document states that salaries will be restructured in three groups (Tirana + 2) with a difference of only 10% from each other for salary levels.
According to the document for the implementation of the full wage reform, which is coming from 2023, spread over two years, it will cost about 39 billion ALL and benefit 130 thousand employees.
By the end of the year, the gross salary of teachers will reach 104 thousand ALL.
Following the salary increase approved during 2023, in 2024, a significant increase in the salary of employees in the education sectors is expected.
Pre-university education workers will have a salary increase of 31.3%, an increase which will lead to a cumulative increase for these teachers in the amount of 38% or in value is in the amount of 28,900 ALL/month, bringing the monthly salary from 75,900 ALL /month to ALL 104,800/month.
Currently, the gross salary for secondary school teachers amounts to 75,000 ALL, while the net salary is 65,000 ALL.
Increase in salaries of doctors and nurses for 2024 from 15,000 to 20,000 ALL per month
In the decision, it is estimated that in the health sector, the salaries of specialist doctors have increased significantly, bringing the average gross salary of a doctor up to ALL 174,000/month.
In 2024, the focus of reform in this sector will be salaries for family doctors and nurses. In 2023, the general practitioner received a salary increase of 7% or in the amount of 6,000 ALL/month and for 2024 he will benefit from an increase of 20,000 ALL/month.
The cumulative increase in the average salary of a general practitioner is 25% and goes up to 131,000 ALL/month.
In 2023, nurses and other health workers received a salary increase of 7% or a value of 3,600 ALL/month and for 2024 they will benefit from an increase of 15,000 ALL/month. The cumulative increase in the average nurse's salary is 27% and reaches ALL 87,000/month./ Monitor
