It is decreasing, but poverty in Albania still remains at worrying levels. If you get less than 22,500 ALL, you are poor today. In such conditions, when our country ranks 6th in Europe as the most vulnerable to poverty, the government has decided to take some steps to mitigate the phenomenon.
In order to analyze the main indicators in the social inclusion policy document, it is determined that age, ethnicity, location, employment, income, disability, gender and sexual orientation will be taken into consideration: "The general aim will be to develop information and obtaining deeper knowledge on the factors that influence poverty, social exclusion, material deprivation, the risk of being poor."
But, there are other elements that, according to sociologists, should be added for a more complete analysis of the citizens' standard of living.
Sociologist Eris Dhamo told A2: "The value of the calories that an individual needs to live is taken into consideration, an individual must live in a family, the conditions of the apartment are taken into account, we need a color television, a washing machine... No we are satisfied with that, according to European indicators, a family should include a couple of holidays."
The measurement of the poverty level is generally done through several surveys by the Institute of Statistics. An Interinstitutional Group of Social Inclusion Statistics will now be added to ensure consistency in definitions and the use of indicators, as well as a Technical Resource Structure for poverty analysis. At the end of each year, there will also be an annual report on social inclusion in the capital and in the districts: "Training interventions with a clear focus, which will strengthen the capacities of the public administration at the central and local level, to guarantee that social inclusion it is an integral part of policies at the national and local level."
"Truly we say that there are no differences in salaries in the public sector. When we look at employment indicators, we see that women are employed in those sectors that are less paid", says sociologist Dhamo.
These are policies with which the country aims to align itself with the European Union, and the implementation of what is written on paper would affect the alleviation of poverty in the country./ A2CNN
