Do you understand now how national history has degraded in Albania?!
On April 7, 1939, Albania was invaded by fascist Italy.
In Durrës, she was met with weapons only by the heroic officer Mujo Ulqinaku, with a group of fighters.
Meanwhile, the king of Albania, Ahmet Zog, had fled Albania the day before. And we must not forget that the king was also the commander-in-chief of the Albanian army.
No other country in Europe has ever experienced such a shameful incident when it was faced with an invasion by a foreign state.
How could the king who was the head of that state escape from his country on the day of the invasion?
Do you understand now how national history has degraded in Albania?!
And this was the king of Albania.
Have you seen him leave anything written?
Nothing. Because it was nothing in the intellectual sense.
And you must always keep in mind that he, with the armies of Belgrade, overthrew the greatest man the Albanian people have ever produced: Fan Stilian Noli; who, as prime minister, was elected by the vote of the Albanian people.
And time continued like this, until Serbia brought Enver Hoxha to power in Albania.
But...
The story of a shameful anti-national act by a king or a prime minister of an independent state must always be told and recounted, so that such an anti-national act is never repeated in the history of that state.
Historical time is a story about the truth, and a historical fact that is shameful for a head of state should always be told.
How is it possible that, one day before an invasion by another state, the king of Albania would flee Albania and the state's army would disband!
Do you understand now how our history developed from such an act? If the king had led the Albanian army in April 1939, the history of Albania would have been the history of a European state. This is because, all the heroic Albanian youth who massively sought arms in April 1939, would have started the war against Italian fascism. And this youth who fought under the leadership of the communist party for the liberation of Albania, would have fought equally led by their king who fled in an unknown direction.
But, precisely in the face of such a fact, our history would be another story. This is because communism had no chance of coming to power in Albania, and Ahmet Zog would today not be a fugitive king who left his homeland and escaped to avoid responding with war to the Italian invaders, but would certainly be a national hero.
This is the historical responsibility of every current and future head of state in Albania, because fleeing from state duty in the face of a national danger is a historical ghost and nothing more...
