So Gaz Bardhi's anger on his first day as group leader was just an alibi, as a kind of complement to his boss's performance before SPAK.
Today Gazment Bardhi announced that the DP has not accepted the division of commissions that the majority has designed. Bardhi said that the opposition does not agree with the positions that the Socialist Party has given to the opposition as heads of parliamentary commissions. And then he announced that he will not accept this scheme, and as a result, they will take the appropriate measures to contest it.
All this behavior is actually a bureaucratic performance by an opposition, as it makes it known that it is annoyed by the "charity" of the majority. Because in reality, the numbers that the opposition has in Parliament do not force the government to negotiate for a harmonious division of parliamentary bodies.
Realistically, Edi Rama and the majority could even make a hypocritical political act by leaving more or other positions as committee chairmen for the opposition, but all of this would not be politics, but a feigned charity that would insult the real role of an opposition.
Which does not need mercy. In the current case, the opposition should not have requested any committee leadership, even if the majority were to consider giving it.
The case of the Parliamentary Integration Committee is a solution negotiated by the EU in 2001, as a result of an attempt to create a climate of trust between the parties. Something that has never been achieved.
Every time the opposition on all sides has had the head of the integration committee, they have used him to block according to party orders, or for personal PR.
Majlinda Begu and Jorida Tabaku are the freshest examples of this atmosphere.
Edi Rama, of course, has thought unilaterally to keep the SP at the head of integration, apparently to push the majority's work and plans forward more quickly.
But the opinion of Edi Rama and the majority does not logically condition the opposition. Which not only causes a scandal by not taking the head of the committees, but also makes a name for itself if the rights of the opposition and citizens are affected by this majority.
For the opposition in difficult conditions, the lack of "benefits" from the majority is a golden opportunity for it to use them as a clean and honest movement in a context of authoritarian governance.
But the situation is not as it seems. Today, the day Bardhi met with the new Speaker of Parliament Niko Peleshi, Sali Berisha, leader of the Democratic Party, began the first day of his criminal trial for corruption.
Berisha's outburst that came out of SPAK, Berisha's outburst on the PD podium were nothing more than a context of the opposition's non-political situation, but of his criminal status. Which has nothing to do with the opposition at all.
Compare the situation of the Hague process with that of Berisha. For 5 years, the leaders of the KLA have been patient until today it was their turn to speak, as the defense witnesses gave them a breath of fresh air.
Who did Berisha have in mind as defense witnesses, even earlier than 5 years ago?
Naturally, no one thought about it, since the towers are there along with apartments, shops and properties whose value increases daily. Sali Berisha does not deny this, but says that the share he received went to his son-in-law, so he did not make any mistake.
And here is the real crux of a process that, even if it is resolved procedurally, will never bring peace to public opinion, and it is not just about those who do not love and do not vote for Sali Berisha.
The real problem here is the opposition, not the heads of parliamentary committees, because when the opposition has had them, it has either declared them "traitors" or "stupid," or they have not respected them.
The opposition becomes stronger when it does not accept the mercy of the majority, and here Edi Rama has actually treated them fairly, despite the problems; he has not shown himself to be cynical.
So Gaz Bardhi's anger on his first day as group leader was just an alibi, as a kind of complement to his boss's performance before SPAK.
