Now Sali Berisha must make up his mind: does he have a problem because Ilir Rusmali is a member of KAS, or because he is the President's legal advisor?
Ilir Rusmali has been designated as the "enemy at his disposal" of the Democratic Party. In the vacuum of facts surrounding him for the so-called manipulation of the elections, Sali Berisha definitely needs someone to make him the object of attacks and explain to his cronies that the reason for losing the battle to "fact" the manipulation is him. And he has chosen Ilir Rusmali, his former deputy prime minister.
A few days ago, he accused him of voting against the release of the minutes of the polling stations to the Democratic Party, while all the minutes were received, as is their right by law, by every member of the Voting Center Commission who is from the DP. But apparently, they don't even have the phone number left.
Then he ordered Celibashi to give them a copy, and he ordered a director to give it to them in electronic form. This embarrassed him, and then he accused Ilir Rusmal of not allowing the recount that the Democratic Party is demanding in Tirana and other districts.
Yesterday, four Berisha candidates in Tirana and Durrës, who suspect that other Berisha candidates have stolen their votes, requested a recount. The two DP members in the KAS and the two SP members voted against. Ilir Rusmali voted in favor. That is, the only one who agreed that the votes in Tirana for the candidates should be recounted was him, while Berisha was exposed as a hypocrite who mocked his own candidates who had stolen their votes.
This enraged him even more.
Then in the evening he ordered Gazmend Bardhi to ask President Begaj to dismiss Ilir Rusmal as the President's legal advisor. In fact, this is where he revealed his true nightmare.
Ilir Rusmali was also the legal advisor to Sali Berisha as President, until 1997. In fact, he was his closest confidant. His request, so dramatic and with such pathos, actually now causes laughter.
Ilir Rusmali is a member of the KAS as an independent, not as a representative of the President, and was elected there in 2021, while Bajram Begaj became President in 2022, and Ilir Rusmali became his legal advisor in 2024. His duty at the KAS, which is a temporary part-time job only when there are elections, has no connection or conflict of interest with the work as the President's legal advisor. He does not represent the President there. The President has no role in the electoral process, except for the duty to set the date of the elections. And it has not been appealed to the KAS.
The President of the Republic has no legal power over the institutions that administer elections, since all election institutions are elected by Parliament, just like the President. Berisha has even voted for the KAS, one of the election institutions, to have a mandate until 2029. So, with Berisha's vote, Ilir Rusmali will be a member of the KAS until 2029, regardless of other jobs he may do – whether as a legal advisor to the President or in any other position in the future.
Now Sali Berisha must make up his mind: does he have a problem because Ilir Rusmali is a member of KAS, or because he is the President's legal advisor?
Until yesterday he was complaining that he was a member of the KAS and that he was disrupting the process. When he was exposed as a hypocrite with his own people and when only Rusmal's vote was in favor of his candidates, he is now demanding his dismissal as an advisor to the President. So, do you want him in the KAS?
So, if he wants him in KAS, what problem does he have – apart from his personal hatred towards Rusmal, who did not sign the project for Gërdec to his son, which Berisha himself wanted to be done by government decision?
In fact, the only one who should hate him is Fatmir Mediu, because with that decision he saved Sali Berisha and left the burden of guilt on Fatmir Mediu. Now we would have Berisha on trial with his son for Gërdec and not Fatmir, who is going to the dog's fat for his son. And this is the only reason for all his hatred towards Ilir Rusmal.
The only thing I fail to understand is how his most ardent followers manage to adapt their hatred, just to win the heart of a man who actually has no heart but a pile of hatred.
