Boomerang of anti-Veliaj protests

DP seems to have neither the organization nor the opportunities to play simultaneously on two fronts both in the morning under the window of Veliaj and in the evening under the balcony of Saliu...

The DP protests in front of the town hall, which today, on their 13th day, only confirmed the gathering of less and less militants, it would be good if they were closed as soon as possible. Since three months, they never managed to rise to the level that would require the denunciation of an unimaginable robbery scheme, like the one Erion Veliaj and his directors had built. To persist with a quixotic stubbornness, to continue them even in sweltering temperatures over 40 degrees, and moreover under the indifference of an opinion gripped by heart-pounding fever for the national team, means you are banging your head against the wall in vain.

There are several reasons why the protest did not take off. First, the more the Tirana regime takes the form of a dictatorship, the more difficult it will be for citizens to feel free to publicly demonstrate their anger. They have relatives at work, problems with this administration that pursues them with patronage, and they don't want to risk everything in front of a state that differentiates them politically.

Secondly, DP seems to have neither the organization nor the opportunities to play simultaneously on two fronts, both in the morning under the window of Veliaj and in the evening under the balcony of Saliu. To be convinced of this, it is enough to see those who take the microphone, who are desperately the same.

Thirdly, although many people understand that what happened justified setting fire to that crime building (unlike what the ambassadors preach), there were some of those who did not want to forgive this PD bonus. Today you can be 100% against the birbos of the municipality, without necessarily being a follower of the opposition. It seems that the organizers themselves understood this impasse and tried to camouflage themselves behind the "Alliance for the protection of the theater", but no one bought into this trick.

There may be other reasons why the idea to react to the most brazen theft of these 30 years turned out to be a failure. But what matters is that from now on, the insistence to continue this way is turning into a boomerang. If the initiators also conceived it as a form of pressure so that SPAK would not have the opportunity to avoid humiliating facts, this goal is producing the opposite effect today. Special prosecutors, programmed more to pardon than to investigate the powerful, may find an excuse for turning a blind eye to negligible citizen backlash.

But, above all, the protest must be stopped because it creates the wrong perception in the public. While now only idiots are not convinced that destruction has been done in the offices of Veliaj, seeing that miserable handful of people who are indignant at it, the impression is created that this society is immune to theft. The wrong conclusion that can be drawn after these 13 gatherings is the death of the nerve to react to evil.

The role of an opposition, however weak, incompetent, or immoral, is to try to keep it alive. She can do this with more or less success, according to time and circumstances, but she is not forgiven, in any way, for turning into the mirror where society's apathy is reflected. It is not allowed to do this, as it harms a much larger circle of people than its militants. This is exactly the reason why PD should close those protests that did not attract anyone's attention.
