To avoid this devastating confrontation, Berisha has protected them on the safe list, since if they were in this race, they would be a symbol of boycott by the Democrats.
The vote for the Democratic Party's open list in Tirana reveals the truth about Sali Berisha's holding of that party hostage. The list is headed by Jorida Tabaku and Ilir Alimehmeti, with two figures: one a politician and the other brought closer to the DP in recent years from the world of medical professionals.
The result shows that, if the Democratic Party is left free to choose, it chooses the figures the public wants and not the figures Sali Berisha wants. Imagine for a moment that Tabaku was on the open list with Vokshi, Noka or Balli – what would the result be?
To avoid this devastating confrontation, Berisha has protected them on the safe list, since if they were in this race, they would be a symbol of boycott by the Democrats.
On the other hand, the Free Democrats' vote also shows how much of a farce Berisha's primaries for his preferred list were. The people he wanted to promote in the primaries, he put in certain centers and locked them in the safe list, while those who won the votes themselves, he left on the open lists. This shows that he was aware, for example, that Klevis Balliu had not been voted anywhere in Tirana, except for those centers where he was accompanied by his bodyguard and could not appear on an open list without being discredited.
Tabaku and Alimehmeti, as the two leaders of the DP list in Tirana, clearly show the typology of the DP candidate voted for by the electorate, in contrast to the “soldiers” that Berisha wants in the Assembly. Tabaku has gained his profile from the political battle in the Assembly and from the effective opposition he has made, while Alimehmeti represents the typology of a young politician, a citizen and uninfected by the stereotypes of the Berisha politician.
But the others behind them also represent non-conformist people in some way. For example, Myslym Murriz's result, although he is no longer close to the winning line, is impressive and very qualitative from a political point of view, as he has had open positions - both critical of Berisha and of his "soldiers".
The vote also shows the politically oriented vote of the Youth Forum for Muçollari, the local vote for Dogjani, or the financial support for a businessman's daughter – but all of these show Berisha's lack of influence in that vote.
Even more humiliating is the inclusion of two Freedom Party candidates on the secure list and Ilir Meta on the open list, which proves how many votes the Freedom Party has.
The vote showed that Ilir Meta, with 6,000 votes, took two MPs in Tirana from Berisha, which shows that it doesn't matter who the people choose, but who Berisha chooses.
So, the democrats of Tirana, when he lets them go, vote and think differently than Sali Berisha decides, and this shows that his main enemy is precisely the free vote - even within his own party.
