They are convinced that by acting "strong" or provoking incidents, they earn more points.
At least three Democratic Party political leaders in three important constituencies have become notorious in this election campaign for personal violence against citizens or opponents.
Xhelal Mziu in Dibër, who got involved in physical fights with his opponents; Nallbati in Bilisht, who rushed like an eagle at a truck driver simply because, when the latter tried to overtake him, the driver's hand telling him "don't overtake" seemed to him to be saying "vote 5"; and Gjin Gjoni in Lezha, who has been placed under investigation for manipulating reports of violence by his supporters.
So, if the opposition had hoped to build its entire narrative on the violence of the government, to date we have zero cases of violence by important representatives of the majority and at least three opposition district leaders who are officially under investigation for violence.
This is, without a doubt, an undisputed advantage of the opposition in these elections. They are convinced that by behaving as "strong" or provoking incidents, they will gain more points.
Even more interesting is the official DP's reaction to these events: in no case has there been any distancing, on the contrary, there has been support. This shows that the violence is part of a line approved at the headquarters, which fails to materialize in every region, but where political leaders take the situation into their own hands — and beat themselves up.
At this point, Mziu, Nallbati and Gjin Gjoni deserve praise. Until May 11, they are truly superior in this field.
The problem is that the entire strategy of the DP is built on the idea that they will denounce the elections after May 11. According to even the polls closest to the DP itself, the result will be a deep defeat. In this scenario, campaign violence is an important element to justify the defeat.
But unfortunately for them, this battle of violence has been won by the opposition. So far, there have been no murders like in 2021, but in terms of beatings, they haven't been bad.
Therefore, on May 12, when Berisha shouts "gangs and crime stole my elections," he should keep in mind that the three main bandits were his three political leaders, who are under investigation by the prosecution.
In a way, he has won the battle to physically beat the socialists, even to eat them raw, but he will lose the battle with votes.
And, apparently, the opposition benefits more from violence than votes.
Halal has this victory!
