Edi Rama has received nothing more than the invitations that Trump has sent to dozens of prime ministers or presidents. He has neither a role nor any special merit. This letter does not constitute any certificate for the justice of his policy, since it was written equally to the communist leader of Hanoi.
For a few hours we rubbed our eyes, remembering that we were rewatching the same movie, with the same protagonist, who changes the main role, sometimes as the actor who is appointed mediator to reconcile Turkey with Greece, sometimes as the head of the OSCE, who will put a stop to Putin and Lavrov's rematch, and sometimes as the President of the UN Security Council, who shows the Russian ambassador the way, defending Ukraine.
The scenario was the same again, but with a different protagonist. This time the "partner" was Donald Trump, who had sent a letter to the same actor, inviting him, for his "special merits", to participate in the Peace Board, which would be established to end the war in Gaza and begin its reconstruction.
Edi Rama offered himself to play this new role with the same zeal and prestige. He sold the letter he received from the US president as a token of gratitude for the good governance he had given Albania, as a respect for the foreign policy he had led, as a letter of commendation for his 13 years of political activity.
That's how long it took for the propaganda trumpets to sound. Someone declared with pathos, how thanks to a skillful leader, an insignificant country was sitting at the head of the table of the great. Another was in a hurry to win the servility competition, to proclaim that the global leader has the innate talent to negotiate impossible agreements. Among the hyzmeqars, there were also those who announced that the opposition should now be silent, since the Prime Minister Qerrata had known how to do it for himself and Trump. The most zealous went so far as to produce news that thanks to Edi Rama we had won an honorable position as founding members of the Peace Board, a position that had not been given to dozens of other countries that had been sent letters to participate.
But, as if this ass-licking were not enough, the exaltation of a role that did not exist in reality took official form in the statements of the Foreign Minister, Spiropali. Earlier this week, she declared, with the seriousness that characterizes her, that Trump's invitation was a personal assessment of Prime Minister Rama's leadership. Even with her usual drooling, as if the "success" achieved were not enough, she added words that were not found in Trump's letter at all, those that according to the American president "Edi Rama was a world-respected leader."
E gjithë kjo tollovi nuk zgjati më shumë se dy ditë. Dalë ngadalë u kuptua se një letër identike si e kryeministrit tonë i kishte shkuar edhe dhjetra kryetarësh shtetesh, madje në të njëjtën datë dhe mbi të gjitha me të njëjtin tekst, ku ndryshonte vetëm emri i marrësit. Disa e kishin botuar menjëherë ftesën, ndërsa të tjerë, më të rezervuar, e kishin ruajtur me diskrecion, ende të pa vendosur nëse do i përgjigjeshin pozitivisht apo jo.
Situata filloi të bëhet qesharake kur mediat shtetërore vietnameze, publikuan se Sekretari i Përgjithshëm i Partisë Komuniste të Vietnamit, To Lam, i ishte përgjigjur pozitivisht, të njëjtit dokument. Grotesku arriti kulmin kur të njëjtën gjë publikoi edhe diktatori biellorus, Aleksandër Lukashenko, të cilit i kishin mbërritur në tryezën e tij, të njëjtat fjalë me ato për të cilat shumë nga ne mburrën liderin e vendit tonë të vogël, që na kishte bërë krenarë më shumë sesa plot shtete të mëdhenj.
Pra, për të qenë të qartë dhe koncizë: Edi Rama nuk ka marrë në duar asgjë më shumë sesa ftesa që Trump i ka dërguar dhjetra kryeministrave apo presidentëve. Ai as nuk ka ndonjë rol plus në Bordin e Paqes, as ndonjë meritë të veçantë në themelimin e tij. Kjo letër nuk përbën asnjë çertifikatë për drejtësinë e politikës së tij, pasi ajo i është shkruar njësoj edhe liderit komunist të Hanoit. Ajo nuk shërben si alibi për justifikimin e regjimit shqiptar, pasi nga i njëjti tekst është ngazëllyer edhe dikatator satrap i Minskut.
Pasi kemi parë me sy, kemi krahasuar paragraf për paragraf, kemi peshuar fjalë për fjalë të gjitha tekstet e nënshkruara nga Trump, e kemi më të qartë se në Shqipëri u ngrit një fortunë e kotë në gotë, e cila mori shkas nga vaniteti i njohur i presidentit amerikan, i cili do të ketë sa më tepër mbështetje numerike në një nismë që synon ta shfaqë atë si kampion të paqes. Kaq është e gjitha. Edi Rama nuk është as i luftuar, as i mbështetur. Ai është thjeshtë një shifër më shumë.
Por, pasi kemi sqaruar këtë sërish mbetet në ajër një pikëpyetje. Po mirë, kur e dinte se ç’do të ndodhte më pas, përse kryeministri u angazhua personalisht në këtë mashtrim? Ai e ka përvojën ndërkombëtare dhe njohuritë e mjaftueshme në teknikat e komunikimit për të ditur, që në fillim, se gënjeshtra do të shfryhej me të dalë dhe ftesat e tjera me tekste të njëjta. Ai qe i ndërgjegjshëm se ky ishte një mesazh burokratik, ku asnjë lider nuk diferencohej nga të tjerët. Atëherë pse i duhej kjo përçapje e kotë, kur nuk kishte asnjë nuancë të ndryshme për rolin e Shqipërisë, politikën e saj të jashtme dhe rolin e tij si kryeministër?
Vërtet ai gjendej nën presion nga mesazhet e hidhura që po i dërgon prej disa kohësh një Uashington i ndryshëm nga ai i erës Biden, por ama kjo manovër meskine nuk e ndihmonte gjithsesi për ti daravitur ato. Atëherë, përse?
To answer these questions, one must read once again, with a bitter smile, all the nonsense that has been written in these 48 hours. One must take one by one the sold media outlets that hyped the "special role" that Trump had given him, the crediting of his policies by the MAGA leader, and the final blow that was given to the domestic opposition after this invitation. This picture would not be complete if it were not added to the disgusting servility of the foreign minister, who went beyond, quoting what her boss had dictated to her and not what the head of the White House had written in the same letter for everyone.
It is precisely this coalition of idiots who are willing to make black and white, those media outlets that do not speak about what they see, but about what they are told, those ministers and deputies who are only capable of licking their lips, that are the real reason why Rama decided to lie, even though he was aware that everything would soon come out in the light of day. Knowing that he has this propaganda camp at his disposal, he has calculated that even if a large part of the glorification of Trump's letter were to fade, thanks to them, at least something would remain. That is why he decided to play in this new film the role of a recurring character. That of a global actor, who does not exist only in his fantasy, but who is also kept alive by those he pays.
