I agree that stupidity is often first news. But so that the fool is not heard, the wise must speak. In this case, the wise man complains about why the fool talks...
A public letter, a petition, signed by several well-known figures of science (mainly history and linguistics), caused reactions. It was described as a kind of communist-type tract. I also share the same opinion, more or less. Another form could have been found. The space and possibilities are endless.
But let's talk about the interior, that is, the concern raised by the petition.
It is true that the screen, i.e. the media space, is very cheap. But not for every type of product. Let's face it, if you are going to produce an event that contributes to the education of children, the promotion of a civic value, it is almost impossible to secure this space. But the stupid thing is, it finds a place and is sold on every television stand.
"Some television studios have turned into platforms for scientifically unprepared individuals, who promote the idea that Albanian is the most ancient language in the world and the mother of all languages, that all the languages of the world are explained through Albanian, that it it is the language of nature, because this language starts with the beginnings of humanity, etc." - the petition states.
Academics, with all this concern, have not dared to name these people, and I, in respect of their choice, am not naming them. But everyone can make a list of who they are who talk in the studio about the Pelasgians who made us our heads, about the superiority of our race, about the Albanians who created and directed the world, about Greece that didn't know Greek but we Albanians taught it, about every American president who is of Albanian origin, etc.
They are really funny aren't they?
Just as there are those who do historical-patriotic journalism, and every stone and old tombstone they discover shows as evidence of our Pelasgian-Illyrian origin. Also, a man who predicts earthquakes and the end of the world has his stall in the big media bazaar. I agree with the "group of intellectuals", that this is nonsense. You can't tell an old wall with a touch of the century to which it belongs.
But the question is why this kind of folkloric-patriotic "science" or even bigger nonsense is sold every day in the media? Let's face it, if a teacher wanted half an hour a week to "preach" the book and encourage the children to read, they would say: How much do you pay for this?
There is an answer: It's the K's! What are these K's? These are the readings, these are the clicks, these are the views of a video on social networks.
If you post a video saying that there will be a big earthquake in February, you will get a lot of K-ra!
If you post a video, where a "historian" says that Greece never existed, and that the shepherds are the most ancient people in Europe, you will still collect a lot of K-ra!
If you write that the rare gene that we Albanians have is discovered and that makes us superior to the Slavs, and especially the Serbs, you will collect even more K-ra!
Because many ordinary "Pelasgians" read this nonsense. They die to be superior to Serbs and Greeks. And the media wants K-ra. Today there are no principles, no communication ethics, no news standards. There is only thirst for K-ra. Have you seen when the analysts are fighting in the studio? Even when they throw water or other things in his face, or are they ready to tear each other apart? It's a show, they do it for K-ra. The moderator says; We are bad with the K's.
In March 1997, for several days in a row, the news on international channels opened with Vlora. Guns, explosions, tanks, murders, kidnappings…. Madness in a word. One day Euronews (that of Europe) opened the news with the Palestinians. And a Vlonjat shouted: Chuna, take the 12.7-chin (machine gun) and let's make fun of it, Palestine brought it to us, the first news came out.
I agree that stupidity is often first news. But so that the fool is not heard, the wise must speak. In this case, the wise man complains about why the fool talks. Even though the wise man does not have the space of the fool, if he raises his voice, he will still be heard. And it is the duty of the wise to speak. Because that's the difference. The wise man understands the importance of his reaction, while the fool is merely amused.
So I do not agree with the petition, but I agree with what is written in the petition!
