I saw Sali Berisha in Shkodra today on the occasion of the commemoration of the martyrs killed on April 2, 1991, a crime that has never been solved in these 34 years, even though the gentleman himself has been head of state several times, even though every April 2 as an opposition member he swore and swore, as he swore that "communist criminals would receive the punishment they deserve" according to him, as soon as he came to power. And as soon as he came to power, nothing...
Arben Broci, sorry about that, I had him very close to my seat the night the temporary initiating committee of the newly created DP was elected in December 1990, at the Student Cinema Club, where I participated as a representative of the students of Gjirokastra.
Seeing the behavior that Berisha had in these 34 years towards the students of December, whom he fought/used/ignored/expelled/imprisoned/persuadedly prevented from pursuing a political career at high levels, my guts churn when I watch him shed crocodile tears towards the dead Decemberists Azem Hajdari, Arben Broci, etc., while this cunning old man did not have even the slightest respect for his living counterparts.

Essentially, he has as much respect for the dead as he respects the living. The rest is political theater. He uses the memory of the murdered as false political rhetoric against those with whom he shares privileges in the form of palaces, resorts, and towers in the middle of Tirana and up and down Albania, as a result of politics and power.
He would probably do the same thing to me or my fellow students and professors today, if any of us had been killed by the attacks of Enver's volunteers on February 22, 1991 inside the University of Gjirokastra. He would come every anniversary to mock us, lay a wreath of flowers, act sad, call us heroes of democracy and then continue the old chant of insulting the descendants of those who would kill us with a knife.
With what he did to Azemi, Arben Lika, Ridvan Peshkopia, Bardhyl Ukcamaj, Miftar Gjana Shpend Jeshnica Pllumi, Çim Jahjes, Ilir Dizdari, and dozens of others like them, as well as to the many others of us who supported him in difficult days, but who intentionally destroyed our political and professional careers, replacing us with his servile people, who can convince me that with Arben Broci and the other people killed on April 2, this incorrigible hypocrite would behave differently?
In the present time, it could have happened that one of the murdered Shkodra citizens, if he were alive, would not have accepted to become a shadow of himself after Saliu, and would have dared to count the truths in his eyes like the rest of us. What would Saliu say about him?! Can you imagine? "Arben Broci, this servant of Edvin Kristaq Rama", at best, because there is even worse than that.
However, may the memory of the martyrs of April 2, 1991, be unforgettable!
Light the soul where they are!
Respect for those students and professors of that period who remained themselves, and not servants of the eternal tyrants of power, who live only for power, and who want to inherit power even in their graves like the pharaohs of Egypt.
