A life in service to God, knowledge and coexistence!
Anastas Janullatos

The departure of Archbishop Anastasios leaves behind a great void, but his spiritual, philosophical, and human legacy will live on forever.

It was with deep sadness that I received the news of the passing of the Archbishop of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania, Prof. Dr. Anastas Janullatos. A great figure of spirit, thought and humanism, he dedicated his life to the reestablishment of the Orthodox Church in Albania and the promotion of the universal values of peace, love and coexistence.

Archbishop Anastasius came to Albania at a difficult time and, thanks to his extraordinary vision and dedication, successfully led the complete reconstruction of the Orthodox Church. He preached not only the strengthening of religious faith, but also the importance of interfaith coexistence, promoting Albania as a unique model of religious harmony in the world.

In addition to his role as a spiritual leader, Archbishop Anastasios was a prominent thinker and a major contributor to the fields of philosophy, theology, and science. As the author of many theological and philosophical books, his ideas and writings inspired generations of scholars and believers, focusing on the essence of spiritual life and the mission of universal love. As a professor at several prestigious international universities, he shared his knowledge with students from all over the world, becoming a bridge between Western and Eastern thought.

He was also a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, attesting to the international recognition of his work and numerous achievements. His commitment to intercultural and interreligious dialogue remains an invaluable legacy for future generations.

In my mind and heart remain the best memories and impressions of the meetings held with His Grace, especially the last meeting five days before his hospitalization at the “Mother Teresa” Hospital in Tirana. Those moments remain for me a testimony of his humble and inspiring character, a living example of devotion and divine love.

The departure of Archbishop Anastasios leaves a great void, but his spiritual, philosophical and human legacy will live on forever. In this moment of mourning, we express our most sincere condolences to the Orthodox Church and all those who knew and loved this extraordinary figure.

Eternal is the memory of His bliss!
