No matter how good we make the laws, no matter how much we improve them with European standards, corruption will still be there because of the system that the socialist government has set up.
The fight against corruption is not just a priority in the integration process, it is more than that. Corruption is the main reason for the economic situation today, it is the main reason for the capture of the economy in a few hands, for the departure of young people, for mass emigration, for the loss of hope, money laundering, it is precisely corruption that has brought this about.
Can this change with legal improvements? Can this change through a national platform by making the fight against corruption a national priority?
Of course, all of them are important. I believe that a moment has come when, no matter how much we improve the laws, the system we have in place is one that fuels corruption. Here's an example: the new law on concessions and PPPs.
We had another law in 2017 and another law in 2023. The same problems. The case of road concessions, the case of energy, of the National Agency for Public Investment (NASI) have shown this, that no matter how good the law is, it does not prevent corruption if it has become a system, as it has become in Albania.
A system that unfortunately today has captured every cell and the economy. No matter how good we make the laws, no matter how much we improve them with European standards, corruption will be there from the system that the socialist government has set up. A system that unfortunately has captured the entire economy and is held hostage by a government that has fallen morally. This system is gone, this government is gone.
