The bitter truth about Berisha is that he has more true loyalists in the South than in the North. In the North, he has more votes for him, but not more loyal people...
Whenever Berisha feels surrounded in Tirana, he flees somewhere in the North and declares war between the South and the North. He did this today. All it took was a speech from one of the most voted members of the DP who filled the hall with normal people and he headed towards Mirdita, to show his supporters that the North is endangered by the South. It is more or less the instinct of a wild man who seeks refuge in a safe cave when he thinks that he is surrounded by enemies.
All this is a psychological trauma that repeats itself to him every time he feels threatened. He had this syndrome in 1997, when he institutionalized the North-South war by sending paid soldiers from the North to the South, and he has repeated it every time someone in the DP challenges him and he instinctively seeks the support of those who believe that whoever is from the South is against Berisha and the DP. He did this recently in the pulpits against Basha and is doing it again.
The bitter truth for Berisha is that he has more true loyalists in the South than in the North. In the North, he has more votes for him, but not more loyal people. But he doesn't care about that. He cares about the fable of the South-North division that he uses as an instrument to explain his failures.
Look at his opposition battles. He talks about the persecution of the North in infrastructure, when in fact the North has better road infrastructure than the South. The mountains of the North are all connected by roads, while in the South there is no mountainous area, except for Labëria recently, that has a describable road. This is not because of any North-South policy, but because of the spontaneous policies that we have in building infrastructure.
He spoke in Mirdita about depopulation and low birth rates and wanted to present this as a government policy against Mirdita. In fact, the region with the largest population loss in the country is the Gjirokastra region, a socialist bastion. The only long-term resident of the region is Tritan Shehu, a lifelong Berisha MP, who may have contributed to the departure of the Democrats from the region to Tirana or Greece.
Even in the history of his accusations of corruption, he had again taken the example of a municipality in the South, where he accused Tërmet Peçi of having received 60 million euros in tenders in the Municipality of Tepelena. In fact, the Municipality of Tepelena has an annual budget of 1 million euros and it takes 60 years to make up 60 million euros. But he is not very interested in the numbers, but in the idea that the government also commits corruption in the South, not in Mirdita, and that the DP should also get some money since it won that municipality.
That is, the most voted for him in the DP came out against him, and he fled to Mirdita within 24 hours. So far, he has not been afraid of either SPAK or Edi Rama, but of Salianji, Alimehmeti, Kadiu, etc. Within 24 hours, he declared them expelled from the DP, with private agendas and enemies of the DP.
And to make the danger clearer, he has begun to explain to the people about this new hostile group, the 35th within his 35 years at the helm of the DP. And 35 times the DP hears that the enemies are bad and Berisha is good. And now he is afraid that someone will say: “Let's try this with these enemies too.”
