As soon as Taulant Balla was appointed Minister of the Interior, one of the first decisions he made was the dismissal of the Chief of Operations in the State Police, Oltion Bistri. Mr. Balla had strong reasons for dismissing Bistri, which would be revealed only a few days later.
After the former chief of operations was arrested by SPAK for involvement in a criminal group in the so-called Metamorfoza file, another shocking news appeared in the media. The Police Surveillance Agency had reported the Special Operational Force to the Tirana prosecutor's office, after it was discovered that an illegal wiretapping line was used in this structure.
The line was set up by Mr. Bistri himself to intercept high government and business representatives. Among them Arben Ahmetaj, businessman Irfan Hysenbelliu and Taulant Balla himself. The interceptions were carried out on behalf of another high figure of the majority, who is currently one of the three most powerful people in Albania.
Wiretapping of rivals within the species to enhance information as blackmail or to climb the hierarchy is a typical characteristic of mafia organizations. But not the only one.
In September of 2019, Top Channel fabricated a show in its investigative program Top Story that attacked Ditmir Bushati for diplomatic passports. A few months ago, Fatmir Xhafa, Niko Peleshi and Taulant Balla were hit in the first show.
Some time later, the intrigues behind the shows began to surface. After the government ordered the demolition of the Prestige Resort, Irfan Hysenbelliu publicly stated that the prime minister had asked him to hit one of his foreign ministers. It was about Ditmir Bushati. But what apparently did not happen in Neas 24, was made up with passports in Top Story.
Arben Ahmetaj stated a day ago in his interview for Çim Pekka that all shows that hit the figures of the majority were commissioned by the same hand. From the party leader. In fact, all those affected say this confidentially. But this was the first time it was said publicly.
Wiretapping and blackmail are a widespread business within the Renaissance. In all spheres. In and out of type. A few days ago, an important director of the Municipality of Tirana had dinner with a journalist. A well-known businessman in the field of construction was also present at the dinner. There, the ground has been prepared to blackmail a SPAK prosecutor, who is investigating a sensitive file.
The investigation is about a company, which has changed ownership and name several times. Denounced for the first time publicly by Belind Kelliçi, the company currently carries the acronym 5D, which some translate as 5 directors.
This company out of nowhere turned into a million-euro subcontractor of the Municipality of Tirana, and some of its addresses coincide with the businesses of important directors in the municipality.

And just like any human phenomenon there is a cycle with a beginning and an end. The only hope is that its end does not coincide with the end of Albania.
