The sudden death of Gerti Bogdan has caused a deep shock in our public scene.
Partly as a result of his young age, which combined with a very regular and familiar lifestyle makes his farewell inconceivable and unacceptable.
But the main reason for the public shock that Gert's departure has caused is not simply his young age, but the public figure he has built on our political scene. Gerti Bogdani represented the new generation of politicians who, after 2005, began to renew the Democratic Party and the right wing, giving it a fresher, more democratic and western image and mentality.
Gerti was the most typical representative of this new generation. Educated in the West with excellent results, intelligent, charming and with a very civic articulation and action, he represented the hope of a Western and qualitative renewal of the Democratic Party and the right in general. Not simply because he was educated abroad but because his political capital was not a gift of servility towards the boss but the product of a public profile built with his skill, effort and sweat.
That's why Gerti was one of those dignified public figures that is so lacking today in our politics filled with either mediocrity recycled from the past or with a youth who, although educated in the West, builds his political career simply by worshiping the boss. His public existence, even if left in the shadows, was a hope for the much-needed renewal of our politics in general and the opposition in particular.
It is for this reason that the death of Gerti Bogdani has shocked our public opinion so much. It is a departure that on the one hand reminded us of the existence of a political model that is so missing from our public scene, as it removed this model from our bosom. It was a double blow that reminded us, but also took the Bogdani model away from us.
In these conditions, it is important that while we express our pain for the premature departure of politician Gerti Bogdani, we should not forget the existence of the model he created in our political scene. It is the last contribution, and perhaps the most important, that politician Bogdani makes to our public sphere. Even with his departure, he reminded us that there is a model of a decent politician and politics. Therefore, even if death took the politician Bogdani from us, it is our duty to keep alive in our memory and public sphere the hopeful model he gave us.
