Well-known lawyer, Prof. dr. Ismet Elezi turned 104 years old.
8 years ago, I had a special telephone conversation with the respected professor of Albanian jurisprudence, the well-known constitutionalist and criminalist, Prof.Dr. Ismet Elezi.
I took him to wish him for the holidays and asked him first about his health... On the other end of the phone, He recognized my voice and immediately spoke on my behalf.
As an old man I'm fine, he told me, I've been bedridden for a while, because I was hit by a heart problem, but now I'm better, continued the professor in his laid-back and calm voice.
I asked him to pay a visit to my dear friend and without hesitation, he told me:
I am waiting for you even as I am...
I was greatly moved by that answer, which had within it longing, an exhilarating and transparent chastity.
As it were, it was a communication almost akin to the sincerity, openness and innocence of children….
There was so much love and gratitude within those words, accompanied by a high human sentiment that only people like Him know how to convey through communication...
I was even more touched when I visited him recently and saw with my own eyes the greatness of such a modest and dignified life led by the honorable academician....

Even today he lives in a simple apartment of two rooms and a kitchen, with items and furniture that come as relics from the time when decades ago he was teaching at the Faculty of Law, (heading the criminal department from 1957 - 1990). at the State University of Tirana.
This is an excellent example of the positive model that reminds us how a man who has lived among the great opportunities to profit through the "power of the official" and the influence traffic of administrative corruption, profession and privileges that this social status brings can , in fact, he chose to live between honesty and modesty, leaving even in this 104th anniversary of His life forever, the only wealth for the family, society and the nation, his illustrious NAME, over 30 works as the author of books, thousands of articles, writings and studies in the local and foreign press.
So today, I express my infinite gratitude to you, dear prof. Ismet Elezi, who makes us remember and hope that great human values still exist among us....
They will fade and devalue every day even more, little by little, every anti-value that has taken our country and society hostage in more than three decades of difficult and painful chaotic transition....
On the 104th anniversary of His birth, Professor Ismeti Elezi proves to all of us that we should not lose hope for today and the future, because among us there is also the model of a good Albania...!
