Sali Berisha tried yesterday to make credible the episode of Lulzim Basha's exclusion of many well-known DP figures from the lists for deputies in 2017. It was about Selami, Boden, Patoz, Bregu, Topalli, etc., who were not included in the lists of candidates for deputies. Berisha says that he called Lulzim Basha and told him that "they have the right to react politically towards you."
In fact, they reacted politically. They made their statements, and even after the heavy defeat in the elections, it was found that the DP reduced its voter base by 250,000 votes, and this was also attributed to this action.
What was Berisha's political stance towards their criticism?
During an interview on the show "Studio e Hapur" on News24, on May 22, 2017, when asked what he thought about Bregu, Selami, Topalli Boden and Patoz who had openly opposed Lulzim Basha several times, Berisha declared with conviction that:
"The DP has had, has and should have a different opinion. A party is not harmed by a different opinion."
So, Berisha was completely on Basha's side and called these people simply bearers of "different opinions".
In fact, he mocked them.
Now, after eight years, when he is left with the ruins of his party, he is trying to soften the blow by blaming Lulzim Basha.
Wasn't this the one who attacked Astrit Patoz's party in 2019 and called his candidates to his office, on the 12th floor, to withdraw them from the race and denounce Patoz as someone who had included them on the list without asking them?
Wasn't this the one who denounced Ridvan Boden, why he agreed to become a member of the Board of the Bank of Albania - a completely professional assignment, related to his experience as a former Minister of Finance?
Wasn't he the one who ignored Eduard Selami's criticism of manipulation in the Assembly where he ran against Basha, and then mocked him by saying:
"You stabbed the DP in the back for not denouncing the manipulations"?
Wasn't he the one who denounced Topalli, why he created another party in 2021, and even had his own "hounds" accuse him of breaking up the party on Rama's orders through OSHEE?
Wasn't this the one who attacked Majlinda Bregu, why she became the head of the 3 RCC, an EU institution for the region, just because this required the approval of the Albanian government?
Yes, if he really thought that "they had the right to react politically to Basha",
Why did God not come to them, but to Baasha?
In fact, he turned out to be a master of the decision he made against them.
And if he was so concerned, now that he has taken over the DP by force, why didn't he put this injustice in place, by returning them to the DP and placing them on safe lists as a sign of reflection on what Basha had done? He did this only for Topalli, whose loyalty he does not doubt.
Now I know full well that he will lose and there will be no people who can sue him on May 12th.
That's all his "apology" for those he has expelled from the DP over the years.
