Revolution as a lie and institutions as the only truth

The only truth is that democracy is not about overthrows with revolts, with fire and smoke, but is built precisely on respect and recognition of institutions as guarantors of politics. Change does not come with imaginary overthrows, but with real participation and popular trust.

Raymond Aron, in The Opium of Intellectuals, considered the promise of revolution a myth that gives intellectuals and politicians an alibi to justify violence and terror, on the grounds that they serve a greater purpose.

According to him, this is nothing more than a deception, because revolution brings neither emancipation nor freedom. On the contrary, it produces new dictatorships and disappointments.

We have seen this in recent years, where Sali Berisha has promised 'revolution' several times, warned of 'the overthrow of the government through revolts', called for a boycott and non-recognition of elections, but everything has been forgotten and a few days ago we saw him enter parliament and repeat the oath formula with a dry and stiff 'I swear'.

The promise of revolution only served for the internal war in the DP, for the emotional mobilization of militants, for the seizure of the seal and headquarters, for complete control of the parliamentary group and the party, but in the end we are seeing that returning and sitting at the table is an indisputable fact and a necessity for the continuation of the political game.

This is not simply a weakness of a political leader, but the very nature of revolution as a historical fraud. It promises everything but delivers nothing, because revolution is not a political truth, but a dangerous illusion used to keep the hopeless masses aflame.

The only truth is that democracy is not about overthrows with revolts, with fire and smoke, but is built precisely on respect and recognition of institutions as guarantors of politics. Change does not come with imaginary overthrows, but with real participation and popular trust.

Change does not come with the lies of the myth of revolution, but with the strengthening of the rules of the game, through a self-purifying and self-critical process. Everything else is just another lie, because revolution is an old deception of politics, while institutions are the only truth of democracy.
