When calls for "death to Albanians" and "gas chambers" are made in public, in Kumanovo, during a basketball game, in front of a Prime Minister sitting as a spectator, we are not dealing with an incident, but with an alarm.
Mickoski and his government did not show even the minimum of moral or political responsibility. In the face of hatred, they chose to keep their mouths shut. But the not-so-distant history of this century has shown that when institutions remain silent in the face of discrimination and hatred, the consequences are not rhetorical, they are real.
The KLA was not born from the Albanian will for conflict, but from a state that for years ignored legitimate demands for equality, from a state that treated Albanians as second-class citizens.
The Ohrid Agreement was not a gift, but the result of the price that Macedonia paid due to accumulated injustices and prolonged silences.
Mickoski probably thinks he is winning votes with silence and anti-Albanian politics, but in fact he is investing in destabilization.
Because when a Prime Minister does not respond to calls for ethnic cleansing, then it is no longer a matter of rhetoric, it is a matter of time until history repeats itself.
And this time, responsibility will have concrete names.
