How is it possible that this phenomenon still continues, is allowed for votes before the elections, and is arrogantly destroyed after the elections, only to be repeated again?!
Land grabbing cannot be stopped by propaganda and arrogance. Both fuel the recurrence of informal construction and electoral and financial corruption.
This informality and this governmental arrogance has appeared and re-appeared during local and parliamentary elections for about 35 years.
Informality can only be stopped when ownership is recognized and development plans operate freely. The power of any government is not measured by arrogance and abuse, but by the ability to build a state.
Take the example of the USA: during the period of land occupation, the state acted forcefully against the occupiers, burned them, expelled them, punished them, but the occupation did not stop.
Only when development plans were drafted and property rights were recognized, this phenomenon was reduced and informal construction stopped.
How is it possible that this phenomenon still continues, is allowed for votes before the elections, and is arrogantly destroyed after the elections, only to be repeated again?!
Saying that "someone in the north built on someone else's land" is, at a minimum, ignorance, and at a maximum, a ridiculous media service!
I don't know if Seneca knew Albanian patronages, but when he talks about human nature, he is very right when he concludes that: "Very few are true slaves. Most are voluntary slaves." It is difficult to understand why: "so many voluntary slaves have sprouted like mushrooms after the rain"?
I am not justifying informal constructions. I am against them. But I am even more against the arrogance of those who obstruct private property rights and block development plans.
They distort the equality of investment opportunities for every Albanian, from Thethi, Vermoshi, to Ksamil. Albania can develop better, sustainably and create employment, can better distribute disposable income to as many Albanians as possible, only when equality of opportunity is facilitated and guaranteed, without deliberate obstacles and without the impoverishing costs of corruption and greed.
