The Lapaj-Shabani conflict and where the new parties went wrong

Small parties, both right and left, owe a great debt to their voters and all Albanians. Due to political immaturity and personal antagonisms, they failed to create a "common pole of hope."

Coalitions do not serve with insults, but with hope and responsibility. The media and folkloric debate between the parties of a pre-election coalition is useless and harmful for both parties, but especially for Albanian voters.

Even before the elections, I advised colleagues from new parties to avoid big fights over small issues. Even when someone claims that "it's not my fault," I would make it clear that it's enough for someone to not want public conflict and it won't happen.

Loss of opportunity to build an alternative

Small parties, both right and left, owe a great debt to their voters and to all Albanians. Due to political immaturity and personal antagonisms, they failed to create a “common pole of hope”. This pole, even if it had not been victorious, could have reduced the strength of a majority that controls the posts and money of the poorest citizens with patronage and media propaganda.

From vows of sacrifice to everyday selfishness

Clashes before and after the elections show that even among the leaders of new parties, personal egoism and the struggle for protagonism often dominate, not the sense of "sacrifice for the homeland" that is so often preached in public speeches.

Cooperation could start from the opposition

If the big parties form a coalition government after the elections, why couldn't the smaller parties do the same in opposition? A sincere and humble coalition would give hope to even disappointed voters and create a new model of political accountability.

The real challenge: The moral self-corruption of the new leadership

Leaders can only lead with vision, commitment and especially with high integrity. The greatest danger is not only classic corruption, but “moral self-corruption” for media protagonism, which catches new leaders before they even come to power. Inherited political diseases continue like incurable viruses even today, if we do not interrupt them with awareness, character and moral courage.

Don't wait for change, make it yourself.

-Albania has no shortage of idealists, but it lacks patience and cooperation.

-Those who don't know how to form a coalition in the opposition won't know how to govern differently either.

-Change does not start with positions, but with values.

"Stop expecting hope from others, become a voice of reason, unity, and hope yourself."

*I hope they don't make a poem about me, but I would welcome it and not respond in kind, which I'm convinced they deserve.
