The Police Surveillance Agency in Tirana, arrested yesterday evening a person who presented himself as a police officer and extorted sums of money from sex workers in the capital.
It is known that the arrested person made meetings with girls known as escorts through social networks and after having sexual relations with them he told them that he was a policeman and that he intended to arrest them.
Then, in order not to arrest them, through threats, he demanded and took from them monetary values ranging up to 2 thousand euros. In the meantime, the investigations continue to fully unravel the scheme used by the arrested young man.
"The Police Surveillance Agency (Tirana Region), from the investigative actions carried out with special investigation methods, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Tirana, has arrested in flagrante delicto the citizen AS, 27 years old, suspected of committing the criminal offense of "Extortion by means of threats or violence to give away property".
From the performance of procedural investigative actions, it results that this citizen, introducing himself as a police officer and using identification tools such as those of the various structures of the State Police, contacted various citizens through social networks, where by coercion and threats, demanded and received from them monetary values ranging up to 2 thousand euros, against the promise not to arrest them.
"Investigations continue to identify and document with legal evidence the possible involvement of police officers as well as social ties with the arrested person ," AMP announced.
