The Lezha Prosecutor's Office has placed 4 OSHEE employees under investigation, one day after the death of 27-year-old Mark Prenga in Rrilë.

According to the Lezha Police, proceedings have been registered for the criminal offenses of “Violation of occupational safety regulations” and “Abuse of office.” Under investigation are a 34-year-old electrical engineer and three electricians who were involved in the field intervention.

The 27-year-old died on Thursday morning after allegedly coming into contact with electricity while repairing a fault in a pole near the Rrila substation. Preliminary investigations indicate that he is suspected of not respecting safety protocols during work.

The materials have been referred to the Lezha Prosecutor's Office, which is continuing investigations to fully clarify the circumstances and determine responsibilities.

"Following the information provided yesterday, on the loss of life of citizen MP (duty electrician of OShEE), suspected as a result of falling into contact with electricity, while repairing a defect, in a pole in the village of Rrilë, we inform that following the procedural actions carried out by officers of the Judicial Police of the Lezha Prosecutor's Office, criminal proceedings have been initiated, for the offenses of "Violation of safety rules at work" and "Abuse of duty", for citizen ML, 34 years old, duty electrical engineer of OShEE, as well as for citizens K. Ll., 60 years old, A. Xh., 62 years old and ER, 23 years old, duty electricians of OShEE" , the police statement states.
