An accident resulting in the death of a 60-year-old man occurred this morning on the Thumane-Tirana highway.
A "Volkswagen" type vehicle collided with an "Audi" type vehicle, while the tragic event took place around 07:10 in the morning at the place called 'Ura e Gjola'.
As a result of the accident, the 60-year-old driver of Lazer Firza died, who went to the hospital without signs of life.
It is suspected that the cause of the accident is the works being carried out by the company "Gener 2", for the reconstruction of this road, which has shown major problems in some of its points.
Concretely, in the place where the accident happened, a part of a lane is being asphalted, which has suffered subsidence and damage that has not yet been opened.
"On 04.10.2024, around 07:10, on the Thumane-Tirana highway, in the place called "Ura e Gjolë", the "Volkswagen" type vehicle with driver LF, about 60 years old, collided with the "Audi" type vehicle ", led by the citizen IP. As a result of the injuries received from the accident, the citizen LF died in the hospital.
The investigative team is working to clarify the circumstances of the accident," said the police announcement.
