Accused of corruption, the appeal leaves the former secretary of the Ministry of Health in prison

The appeal of GJKKO has upheld the sentence of 2 years and 8 months in prison for the former secretary of the Ministry of Health, Joana Duro, on charges of corruption with the tender for the supervision of the reconstruction of health centers in Tirana and Durrës. 

According to SPAK, Joana Duro took a bribe of 330,000 lek to favor the company 'DRICONS' to win the tender.

Duro has been in prison since June 5, 2023, while GJKKO has not agreed to reduce his sentence.

The former secretary of the Ministry of Health is accused of the criminal offense "Passive corruption of high officials".
