But little did they know that their adversaries and the men they had been commissioned to kill had come so close to them that a tap of the fingers was all it took for them to be eliminated.
"Our uncles Geron and Erjon Hasanbelli, originally from Patos, are in constant enmity with the citizen Kassander Noga. In order to avoid any possible revenge, they mostly live outside Albania. During their stay in our country, they lived mainly in Fier and Tirana", says Igli Hatia. Further, one of the grandchildren of the Hasabelli brothers told about the time when their uncles were in Albania. As well as the fact that together they were regular visitors to the bar 'Focus', which was owned by a friend of theirs, and that one of Erjoni's uncles had left there just one day before the fivefold crime took place.
"My uncle Erjoni was in Albania in the month of March or June 2021 and he left here a few days after the event that happened in 'Don Bosco'. While the other uncle, Geron Hasanbelli, was in Belgium during this time period. "During the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022, my brother Ani Metushi and I met almost every day with our uncle Erjon and the three of us regularly frequented the 'Focus' bar, on 'Don Bosko' street, Tirana," says Hatija. Further in their testimony, the nephews of the Hasanbelli brothers said that during their stay at their friend's cafe in the Don Bosco area, they had often seen suspicious movements. And this apparently made them more careful in their movements. But they were still not sure if someone was following them to kill them, even as they moved with increased measures. This is because of the open conflicts they had with Cassander Noga. But also the fact that he and his men had from time to time tried to harm them, physically attacking them.
Just as the Hasanbelli brothers had actually done, who did not delay in responding, even during their stay in Belgium, to Cassander Noga and his men. Even leaving them killed.
"Because of the problems that the uncles have, we tried to be as careful and vigilant as possible. We parked our cars in a parking lot in front of the bar. During the month of November-December 2021, we noticed that suspicious persons, unknown to us, were coming to the bar, staying alone. And we also saw that as soon as these people entered or left the bar, vehicles with black windows were moving on the road. What made us suspect that something bad could happen to us ", says Hatija .
Returning once again to the last days of staying at the 'Focus' bar on 'Don Bosko' street, one of the nephews of the Hasanbelli brothers, remembers that they always left their cars in front of the bar. Just like the day the crime happened. What could have led the murderers to think that the targets were all sitting together in the bar. A most likely reason they were wrong in their script to kill Erjon Hasanbelli and his nephews.
"For the last time we were at the 'Focus' bar on January 3, 2022, one day before the event. We also found our uncle Erjon there. On January 4, my brother and I did not go to the bar in question. As far as I know, on this date, our uncle Erjoni did not go either. Meanwhile, on the day when the event happened, all our cars were parked at the 'Focus' bar in Don Bosco. Among them, a 'Citroen C4' that my uncle used to drive. From that day, after the crime happened, my uncle and we together with him, decided not to move, as we realized that we were the target of the attack", says Hatija.
