Following Altin Ndoci's escape from the Durrës Regional Hospital, movements in the prison system have intensified. The Operational Forces of the Prison Police have departed from Tirana towards Durrës, to conduct detailed checks in the institution where Ndoci was being held in detention, as well as to collect data that could help in solving the incident.
According to sources, the purpose of the operation is to verify security conditions and the people who were in the same room with Ndoc, to see if anyone was aware of the escape plan or helped directly or indirectly.
The checks include:
-The last conversations and contacts the detainee has had;
-Materials found in the cell or room, which may contain signs of escape planning;
-Verifying schedules, registers and internal cameras to see movements within the institution;
Interviewing staff and other prisoners, if they have seen, heard or suspected Ndoc's preparations.
-Ndoci escaped this morning after hitting a police officer at the hospital and quickly left the third floor, then getting into an Audi A7 vehicle that was allegedly waiting for him outside. So far, he has not been located.
This new development comes in parallel with the suspension of the leaders of Durres Prison, including the director and the chief of police, until the completion of internal investigations.
