Footage of the serious gun attack that occurred in the village of Rrilë in Lezha, where barber Sokol Daci was seriously injured, has been released. The video, captured by security cameras, shows the moment when armed men open fire with Kalashnikovs towards the barbershop, seriously endangering the lives of people inside and outside it.
The footage was published by journalist Artan Hoxha, who said: " The scale of the Kalashnikov attack in the village of Rrilë in Lezha is terrifying. The power of the fire against the barbershop of Sokol Daci, who was seriously injured, looks like a cartel attack in Latin America. Only God seems to have shown mercy, as he made it possible to save the lives of the people inside and outside the barbershop, in an area of 10 square meters, from certain death . "
According to preliminary investigations, two perpetrators armed with Kalashnikovs opened fire from outside the bar, while it is suspected that gunfire was returned from inside, leading to an exchange of gunfire involving at least four people.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening, when seven people, camouflaged and wearing hoods, entered the barbershop, introducing themselves as police officers and shouting "Don't move, police!" According to police, five of them were armed with automatic weapons, while the other two were carrying baseball bats.
From the examination of security cameras and investigative actions, it is suspected that the initial intention of the perpetrators was to rape 21-year-old Merando Nikulaj, with whom they had had a conflict several months earlier. The moment the perpetrators entered the environment where Nikulaj was getting a haircut, they were confronted with gunfire, which escalated the situation into an armed clash.
According to the police, in addition to officer Besart Kovaçi, who was arrested for dereliction of duty, Merando Nikulaj himself is suspected of having fired a gun. In this situation, one of the perpetrators responded with automatic fire, seriously wounding barber Sokol Daci, who was on duty.
Up to this stage of the investigation, the police have identified and announced that they are looking for four people suspected of being involved in the incident: Gerardo Ndoka, Eliseo Ndoka, Kevin Ndoka and 21-year-old Merando Nikulaj, the latter suspected of being wounded in the leg, but who did not present himself for medical assistance. They are charged with "Attempted Intentional Murder" and "Unlicensed Possession of Firearms and Ammunition".
The police inform that intensive work continues to locate and arrest the wanted persons, while checks are being carried out in several areas where it is suspected that they may be hiding. Investigations are continuing to fully document the role of each person involved in this serious attack.
