The Gjirokastra Court imposed prison sentences on 3 people, while a fourth was placed under "house arrest" after allegedly raping a 30-year-old girl.
The incident occurred about 3 weeks ago in Këlcyrë, while the arrested persons are family members of the raped girl. More specifically, it concerns her husband, brother and uncle, all 3 arrested, who deprived her of her freedom and then exercised violence against the 30-year-old.
" The security measure "Arrest in prison", ordered by the Court, for the criminal offenses "Domestic violence" and "Illegal deprivation of liberty", committed in collaboration, was executed for the citizens:
– AA, 34 years old (brother of the 30-year-old woman) and SA, 54 years old (uncle of the 30-year-old woman), both residents of Tirana.
These citizens were located and arrested in cooperation with the services of Police Commissariat No. 3, Tirana;
"LL, 43 years old, resident of Këlcyrë (husband of the 30-year-old) ," a police statement said.
It all seems to have started after a family argument between the daughter and her husband, and then the 30-year-old's brother and uncle got involved in the conflict. The latter sided with their relative's husband, who seemed to be seeking a divorce.
Police notification
The Crime Investigation Section of the Gjirokastra Police Commissariat, in cooperation with the "Eagle" Special Force Section of the Gjirokastra DVP, the Këlcyrë Police Station and the Police Commissariat No. 3 in Tirana, executed the security measures determined by the Gjirokastra Court for 4 citizens who were under investigation.
The security measure "Arrest in prison", ordered by the Court, for the criminal offenses "Domestic violence" and "Illegal deprivation of liberty", committed in collaboration, was executed for the following citizens:
– AA, 34 years old (brother of the 30-year-old woman) and SA, 54 years old (uncle of the 30-year-old woman), both residents of Tirana.
These citizens were located and arrested in cooperation with the services of Police Commissariat No. 3, Tirana;
-LL, 43 years old, resident of Këlcyrë (husband of the 30-year-old).
Also, the security measure "House arrest" was executed for citizen EM, 51 years old, resident of Tirana, for the criminal offense of "Unlawful Deprivation of Liberty", committed in collaboration.
The investigation suspects that these citizens, in collaboration with each other, on 10.01.2026, due to a family conflict, deprived the 30-year-old of her freedom, forcibly holding her in a vehicle, and then raped her.
The procedural materials were transferred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Gjirokastra, for further action.
