Following the denunciation that the chairman of "Albania Becomes" Adriatik Lapaj made regarding an unusual incident that occurred yesterday evening in Durres, the police have reacted.
The blue uniforms indicate that the citizen with the initials AB, 45 years old, resident of Durrës, has been arrested and escorted to the police station.
During the physical examination, a plastic pistol (toy) was found on this citizen, which the 45-year-old was carrying in his waistband and is suspected of having lifted his jacket to show it to the candidate in order to threaten her. From the verifications carried out, it results that the 45-year-old suffers from mental health problems and is registered and identified by the psychiatric service.
We emphasize that the public denunciation was made by Adriatik Lapaj, while candidate Valbona Myhedin reported the case to the police.
Reaction of the Durrës Local Police Directorate
Regarding a statement made public on social networks by citizen AL, leader of the political entity "Albania Becomes", that an armed person in Durrës threatened with a weapon the candidate for MP of this entity, Ms. VM, and the activists who accompanied her, while she was holding meetings with citizens in neighborhood no. 8, we clarify that:
The structures of the Durrës Local Police Directorate, as soon as they were informed of the public denunciation made by Mr. AL, immediately began work to verify the case.
Police services, during field operations, have made it possible to identify the person and have continued checks to locate and capture him.
Meanwhile, the candidate for deputy, Ms. VM, has reported to the Durrës Local Police Directorate to file a report. As a result of the immediate response and intensive field checks, at around 21:15, the Police services made it possible to locate, arrest and escort to the premises of the Durrës DVP citizen AB, 45 years old, resident of Durrës. During the physical search, a plastic pistol (toy) was found on this citizen, which the 45-year-old was carrying in his belt and is suspected of having lifted his jacket and shown it to citizen VM to threaten him.
From the verifications carried out, it results that the 45-year-old suffers from mental health problems and is registered and identified by the psychiatric service.
Under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, procedural actions in his charge continue. The Durrës Local Police Directorate assures citizens and political entities that the Police services are fully committed to guaranteeing order and security throughout the electoral process, equidistant from political entities and only in the service of the law.
