A conflict between young people in Loutraki, Greece, has ended with tragic consequences, taking the life of a 17-year-old originally from Berat and leaving a 19-year-old injured.
According to preliminary information, the incident is suspected to have started due to an alleged damage to a motorcycle.
Preliminary sources indicate that the young man suspected of being the perpetrator had met with the 19-year-old, friend of the victim Aleks Vangjeli, with the aim of clarifying the dispute. Three other young men were also present at the meeting. The group left by vehicle towards an isolated area, on the road connecting the Loutraki Ring Road with the Holy Monastery of Saint Patapiou.
According to the same sources, the verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation. The suspected perpetrator is said to have pulled out a cutting tool, with which he initially struck the 19-year-old, causing multiple wounds to the right side of his chest. During the others' attempt to neutralize him, the 17-year-old was also struck on the left side of his chest, while another young man received minor injuries to his hand.
After the incident, the suspected perpetrator fled the scene. Two young men transported the injured 19-year-old to the General Hospital of Corinth for medical attention. Meanwhile, the 17-year-old was found a few hours later by his brother, lying on the road leading to the monastery. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Police authorities have launched an immediate investigation, managing to identify and arrest the suspected perpetrator on Friday afternoon. The case has been transferred to the justice system, while investigations continue to fully clarify the circumstances and motive of this serious incident.
