Greek media reveal details of the accident that killed 3 Albanians...
New details emerge from the tragic accident in Greece, where it is suspected that 3 Albanians lost their lives.
According to Greek media, the accident occurred on the Egnatia motorway, on the Komotini-Xanthi road, approximately 600 meters from the Iasmos toll booths.
In circumstances that are still unclear and are being investigated by the Traffic Police, a truck driven by a Bulgarian citizen collided head-on with a car driven by an immigrant from Albania, in which there were three other people.

As a result of the violent collision, the car caught fire and as a result the driver and 2 passengers died and were burned by the flames. The fourth passenger of the vehicle is in a state of shock and is being treated at the Komotini Hospital.
The Bulgarian truck driver was hospitalized in critical condition at Komotini Hospital, while a replacement driver who was with him, who is out of danger, was also rushed to the hospital.

In fact, the collision caused a chain reaction, where the car in turn hit a second car, with four Greek passengers, who are friends of the victims, according to the Greek Police. It is suspected that they come from Albania and had visited Evros for a wedding. According to Greek media, the driver is 59 years old, while the dead passengers are 61 and 57 years old, while the rescued woman is 49 years old.
The other vehicle was carrying four people, a 36-year-old driver, a 28-year-old woman and their two children, ages 6 and 4. The Bulgarian driver, who is hospitalized in critical condition, is 56 years old. All were taken to Komotini Hospital as a precaution, and are in shock from the tragedy.

Initially, there were three scenarios: first, the two cars stopped in the emergency lane, second, the fatal accident occurred while they were in motion, or third, the vehicles were waiting in line at the toll booth. After the investigation by the Traffic Police, it turned out that the two vehicles were waiting in line at the toll booth and were allegedly not responsible for the collision, on the contrary, the Bulgarian driver hit them at speed.

Firefighters, the Greek Police and Civil Protection are still at the scene. Earlier, EKAB ambulances rushed to transport the injured to hospital.
The fire that broke out due to the collision, both in vehicles on the Egnatia Motorway and in the adjacent fields outside the Egnatia Motorway, was extinguished by the Fire Department. According to the Fire Department, “three bodies of unidentified persons were recovered during the extinguishing of a fire in an EIX vehicle, as a result of a traffic accident, at km 537 of the Egnatia Motorway, in the Amaxades area, and were taken away by an EKAB ambulance. A traffic diversion on the Komotini - Porto Lagos - Xanthi National Road remained in effect until 15:45, by the Regional Police Directorate of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. Traffic has now been restored, but drivers are asked to be particularly careful ”. /Pamphlet
