The Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime has sentenced lawyer Erida Lazimi to 1 year in prison, accused of the criminal offense of "Exercising illegal influence over persons exercising public functions".
Due to the shortened trial, Lazimi received a one-third reduction in his sentence, ultimately being sentenced to 8 months in prison.
However, the GJKKO has decided to suspend the execution of the prison sentence and replace it with 16 months of probation.
According to SPAK's announcement, the criminal proceedings against the lawyer have been separated from a broader investigation registered at the end of 2024, where other criminal offenses are also being investigated, such as corruption of justice officials, narcotics trafficking, and laundering of the proceeds of crime.
Investigations have revealed that the case is related to a 2020 criminal proceeding at the Tirana Court of First Instance, where the request to send to trial citizens Alfred Vladi, Elvis Vladi and Alban Mollaymeri, accused of "Failure to declare money and valuables at the border", was being reviewed.
According to SPAK, Astrit Vladi asked lawyer Erida Lazimi to influence the judge of the preliminary hearing in order to favor the defendants.
" Defendant Erida Lazimi promised and provided defendant Astrit Vladi with the ability to exercise illegal influence over the judge of the preliminary hearing, in return for improper monetary gain ," SPAK's announcement states.
