
Details emerge from the seizure of approximately 30 kilograms of narcotics at the Gorica border crossing, destined for Greece via North Macedonia.
The operation, codenamed “Gorica”, led to the arrest of two Greek citizens, Thomas Kathreptis, 48, and Antiopi Marinou, 34 , who were travelling in a vehicle with Greek plates.
According to the official announcement, the police had previously received operational information that a vehicle was transporting drugs towards North Macedonia, with a final destination in Greece. Under these conditions, the police services organized a pursuit and intervened by stopping the vehicle at the exit of the border crossing.
During the detailed search, including scanning, 37 packages of suspected narcotics, cannabis sativa, were discovered, hidden in a modified space in the lower part of the vehicle. The seized quantity amounts to approximately 30 kilograms, while the procedural materials have been referred to the prosecution for further investigations.
The operation was carried out as a result of the cooperation between the structures of the Korça Police Department and the Border Police, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, to combat illegality in the field of drug trafficking.

"Following the work to prevent and crack down on the criminal activity of drug trafficking, the structures of the Korça DVP in cooperation with the Korça DVKM, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, finalized the operation codenamed "Gorica". As a result of this operation, the following Greek citizens were arrested in flagrante delicto:
-Th. K., 48 years old and AM, 34 years old, residents of Greece.
Based on information obtained on the operational route, that a vehicle with Greek license plates was trafficking a quantity of narcotics towards North Macedonia, with the final destination being Greece, the Police services were organized, which made it possible to locate the suspect vehicle and began pursuing it.
The vehicle with the 48-year-old driver and the passenger, citizen AM, appeared at the exit of the Gorica Border Crossing Point and during the border control procedures based on the risk analysis, the vehicle was passed for control at the second line. Due to the suspicions created, the Border Police services in cooperation with the customs authorities, passed this vehicle for a more detailed control on the scanner, where as a result, 37 packages of suspected narcotic cannabis sativa were found hidden in a specially created place in the lower part of the vehicle, with a total weight of about 34 kilograms.
Following the initial investigative actions, the police arrested the two aforementioned Greek citizens in flagrante delicto for the criminal offense of "Drug Trafficking", committed in collaboration.
As material evidence, approximately 34 kg of suspected narcotic cannabis sativa, a vehicle, two mobile phones and a sum of euros were seized.
"Investigative actions are continuing to identify other persons suspected of being involved in this criminal activity ," the police announced.
