New details have been published regarding the investigations after the execution by gun and the burning of the corpse of the businessman Christos Gialias.
The authorities have focused on the contacts he has recently had with members of a powerful drug and antiquities gang in Albania and are trying to find out if the 59-year-old himself was involved in their activities.
The police seem to be paying attention to the professional activity of the 59-year-old in Albania and the close cooperation with the Albanian authorities.
"The victim had a large meat farm in the neighboring state, while he had recently opened a paint business and was also active in the real estate market," foreign media write.
Even according to the same source, it is most likely that the perpetrators of the murder are Albanians.
The 59-year-old Greek Christos Gialias was executed on Wednesday evening in Mandra of Athens in Greece with firearms and then burned inside his vehicle.
He is also a business owner in Albania. Specifically, in 2007 he founded the company "KASTPO" sh.pk based in Labinot Fushë of Elbasan.
The object of this company's activity is the wholesale and retail trade of various industrial goods, household appliances, passenger transport, hotel and bar. Confidential sources from Greece indicate that the 59-year-old allegedly owns properties in Tirana as well.
Gialias was married to an Albanian citizen from Librazhdi, with whom he continued to be in a relationship despite a separation, which is suspected to be fictitious, registered several years ago.
Gialias turns out to be the owner of large businesses in Greece, where around 4,000 people are employed, many of them Albanians. It is learned that he traveled with bodyguards, Albanian citizens, who were not with him at the time of the murder.
He has a criminal record, as large quantities of weapons, mainly "Kalashnikovs", were found on him. He also has precedents in the field of narcotics, as well as in the illegal employment of workers from Pakistan in Greece.
On Wednesday evening, it was announced that another associate of Gialia was killed on November 31, 2023. It is about the 56-year-old from Berat, Thimi Drobonik alias Thimi Prifti. He was executed in the "Palio Faliro" of Athens and his murder remains unsolved. It is not known if the events are related to each other, but there are suspicions that through a Greek cousin of his, Gialias supplied Drobonik with cigarettes.
The latter had criminal records in this field but also in the cocaine trade. Even Gialias carried out trade with containers from Latin America, but it is not yet known if there is any indication of any illegal transport of narcotics inside them.
