Investigations revealed that the documents submitted to the Civil Registry for the recognition of a foreign decision were forged.
The Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Fier has sent to trial two citizens, a lawyer and a translator, accused of the criminal offense of "Forgery of documents", committed in collaboration, as provided for by Article 186/2 of the Criminal Code.
According to the investigations conducted within the framework of criminal proceedings no. 857 of 2025, on May 29, 2025, a decision of the Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction of Tirana, dated February 12, 2025, arrived at the Civil Status Office at the Fier Municipality by postal service. The document had the applicant citizen FH and was related to the recognition and granting of legal force in Albania of a decision of a court in Greece.
After verifications carried out by the prosecution and subsequent investigative actions, it turned out that the submitted decision was forged. The investigations revealed that the documents sent by mail were sent by citizens AK and AM.
According to the Prosecution, the two defendants not only sent the documentation to the Civil Registry, but also appeared several times at this institution to inquire about the procedures for their registration. The investigative file states that AM, who practices the profession of lawyer, attempted to influence the registration of the documents by using her authority as a law expert.
From the evidence management, the Prosecution alleges that AK, in collaboration with lawyer AM, falsified both the decision of the Greek court and the decision of the Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction of Tirana. According to the indictment, the documents were used to obtain the divorce of citizen FH through a false decision of a foreign court.
Investigations show that in addition to the forgery of the Greek court decision, his recognition in Albania was also fabricated through a forged decision of the Tirana General Jurisdiction Court of Appeal. According to the Prosecution, the ultimate goal was for AK to enter into a legal marriage with citizen FH, with whom he was in an intimate relationship.
According to the announcement, the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Fier declares that it remains committed to guaranteeing the regular activity of public administration bodies and protecting legality in the drafting, administration and issuance of official and private documents.
