The Albanian accused of cocaine trafficking has been extradited from Barcelona on behalf of Italian authorities, after being located in Spain where he had been hiding since 2024.
He was wanted in an investigation that targeted a criminal group active in Cittadella and Padua. Four other members, three Albanians and a Romanian, were arrested during the operation, while the suspect managed to flee the country.
According to investigations, the group had set up a drug distribution network with clients in Padua and surrounding provinces, including Vicenza and Treviso.
The operation began in 2024 with the first arrests. At that stage, an Italian citizen in Treviso and an Albanian living in Vicenza were detained. In October of the same year, police arrested four more people, including two Italians, a Bosnian and a Moroccan citizen, and seized around 30,000 euros and a vehicle.
Investigations show that over the course of a year and a half, the group trafficked around five kilograms of cocaine and carried out dozens of transactions every day. The drugs were sold for 80 to 100 euros per gram and the dealers called them “white”, “beautiful” or “good”.
Authorities are continuing their efforts to fully document the group's activities.
