The arrested Fatjon Rrika, who is accused of placing explosives in the vehicle of Lezha crime officer Gentjan Gjetja, has not admitted responsibility.
The investigation team suspects that he may have acted in exchange for payment from other people to place TNT in the vehicle.
The police identified him through video footage obtained on several road axes. They then located him in the village of Zhejë, Kurbin, and arrested him while he was riding the moped that was allegedly used in the incident. He has a criminal record in Italy for armed robbery.
During the search of the apartment, police found an unlicensed shotgun, placing his father under investigation. Meanwhile, investigations continue to identify another person suspected of collaborating.
The explosion caused only material damage. Investigators are verifying the lead that connects the attack to the officer's duty in the crimes sector at the Lezha Local Police Directorate.
"The authorship and circumstances of the incident that occurred 2 days ago, in the "Besëlidhja" neighborhood, where a police officer's vehicle was destroyed with explosives, have been revealed."
The suspected perpetrator of the crime is identified and arrested.
The arrested person, a citizen with a criminal record in Italy, was charged with armed robbery.
He was caught driving the moped he had used to carry out the explosion.
As a result of intensive investigative actions carried out with the aim of determining the authorship and clarifying the circumstances of the event that occurred on March 15, 2026, in the “Besëlidhja” neighborhood, where the vehicle of the Police officer, citizen Gj. Gj., was destroyed with explosives, the services of the Lezha Police Commissariat, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office and in cooperation with the services of the Kurbin Police Commissariat, finalized the operation codenamed “Zoomed In”.
During the operation, the suspected perpetrator of the incident, citizen F. Rr., 32 years old, was identified as a result of detailed observation of a series of video footage obtained from different angles.
The 32-year-old was arrested in the village of Zhejë, Kurbin, while driving the same moped with which he is suspected of having gone to the scene on the day of the crime.
Following the operation, criminal proceedings were initiated against the father of citizen F. Rr., citizen N. Rr., 66 years old, after a shotgun was found during a search of their apartment, which was possessed without a permit.
The moped and the shotgun were seized as material evidence.
The investigation continues under the direction of the Lezha Prosecutor's Office, to identify and prosecute a citizen who is suspected of having collaborated with the 32-year-old man in committing this crime.
"The procedural materials were referred to the Lezha Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police announced.
