Laert Haxhiu, sentenced to life for the massacre of Lushnja in November 2017, where two people were killed and two others were injured, can face the target of the assassination, Xjulio Shkurti, in the Court of Special Appeal.
The Court of Appeal has announced through a public announcement Shkurti, the grandson of the former leader of the Lushnja gang, Aldo Bare, to be a participant in the October 23 hearing against Haxhi.
In this process, Shkurti is considered as the injured party because one of the charges against Haxhiu is the "premeditated murder committed for revenge", remaining in the attempt against him.
Meanwhile, in 2016, Haxhiu injured Xjulio Shkurti, for which he was sentenced to 18 years in prison. According to SPAK, the criminal group suspected to be led by Laert Haxhiu was created to eliminate Xjulio Shkurt, due to Haxhiu's enmity with Aldo Baren.
Although he was a "target", Shkurti was not injured in the November 2017 assassination attempt, as he had entered a nearby store just moments before his group of friends were fired upon. The bullets killed Zamir Latif and Jurgen Hoxha, as well as injured Bujar Turku and Marius Xhepexhiu.
In the First Instance of the Special Court, Laert Haxhiu was sentenced to life imprisonment, in absentia. Earlier he was arrested in Greece, from where he was extradited on July 3, while he was also wanted by SPAK as the leader of a criminal group accused of several murders and criminal events that occurred in Tirana, Durrës, Elbasan and Korçë./ A2CNN
