
Clashes between gangs have shaken the city of Antwerp, today there were gunshots in a block of flats in Christusstraat of Antwerp and as a result 3 people were injured, two in critical condition.
They are between 23 and 38 years old and there are suspicions that they may be Albanians, but there is still no official position from the local police. Meanwhile, two other people have been arrested.
"Four people are involved in gunshots, as far as we currently have information. They are between 23 and 38 years old," said police spokesman Wouter Bruyns. Two people then fled to a nearby parking garage in Sint-Jacobsmarkt/Kipdorpbrug, where they were found by police.
"Three people involved were injured, two of them in serious condition. A third has also suffered serious injuries, his condition is still unknown", the announcement states.
All four people involved have been arrested. Three of them were sent to the hospital, a fourth was sent to the police station. "Who had what part in the event is still being determined." The police are investigating who is the perpetrator and who is the victim in the story. "Who fired a firearm and if there were many weapons is part of the investigation." The police still do not want to say anything about the identity of those involved. Meanwhile, the fifth person was also arrested. The fifth person involved was in an apartment in the building where the incident took place. The man was taken out in handcuffs shortly after the incident.
A perimeter has been set up by the police to make the necessary observations and for the safety of emergency services and passers-by. The drone police team is also on the scene. According to the Belgian media, the suspicions are that we are dealing with clashes over drug issues, while the area is known to be dominated by Albanians.
