A 35-year-old Albanian was arrested by the Spanish police, who 12 years ago robbed a jeweler at gunpoint in Shkodër.
The young man with the initials EH, is accused of having attempted to steal from a jeweler, using firearms, in 2012, in the neighborhood "Fahri Ramadani", Shkodër, in collaboration with other citizens.
During the theft attempt, the brother of the jewelry store owner was injured.
In February 2024, the Court of Shkodër assigned to him the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offenses "Theft with a weapon", remaining in the attempt, carried out in collaboration and "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition".
"As a result of the cooperation with the Spanish partners, the coded operation "Capital" is finalized, for the capture of an Albanian citizen declared internationally wanted.
The 35-year-old man, accused of attempted armed robbery in a jeweler's shop in Shkodër, was arrested in Spain and arrested for extradition to Albania.
As a result of the exchange between Interpol Tirana and Interpol Madrid, of the information provided by the structures of DVP Shkodër, about the location of an Albanian citizen announced as wanted internationally, the joint operation coded "Capital" has been finalized, for the location and capture of this citizen.
As a result of the operation, citizen EH, 35 years old, was caught in Spain and arrested with the intention of extradition to Albania.
The citizen EH is accused that in 2012, in the neighborhood "Fahri Ramadani", Shkodër, in collaboration with other citizens, they tried to steal from a jeweler, using firearms. During the theft attempt, the brother of the jewelry store owner was injured.
This citizen has been declared internationally wanted after the resumption of investigations by the Shkodra Local Police Directorate, under the direction of the Shkodra Prosecutor's Office. Based on these investigations, in February 2024, the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction Shkodër assigned the citizen EH, the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offense "Theft with a weapon", remaining in the attempt, committed in cooperation and "Illegal possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition".
The procedures for the extradition of the citizen EH to Albania are continuing," the Police announcement states.
