Roan Brahimi's wife speaks about her father-in-law's assassination and

The testimony of Roan Brahimi's wife, who is suspected of being the target of the assassination attempt on Thursday evening in Tirana, has been revealed.

She told police investigators that she has no idea who the perpetrators might be who executed her father-in-law, Gjovalin Prendi in Lezha, or in relation to the injury of four people in Lundë.

Media sources indicate that she has stated to investigators that she has no problems with other people, but has not ruled out conflicts that her husband has had with others.

Roan Brahimi's wife was in Tirana and not in Lezha at the time of the assassination, which is suspected to have been known to the assassins. It is learned that she does not have good relations with Roan's family.

How did the incident happen?

In Tirana, shortly before 10:00 PM, an SUV was shot with a hail of bullets. There were two minors, the children of the owner of the company for maintaining physical security "Pelikani Security", Vesel Demiraj, traveling in it. Their 19-year-old friend and the family driver, also a security employee at Pelikani, Arenc Stafa, 34, were also with them. All four were injured. The family companion, a person without a criminal record, briefly told the officers that there was no conflict. Even the director of the Pelikani company cannot point a finger at anyone as to why they might have shot his children or the family companion.

But what seems to connect the two assassinations to each other, on the one hand a history of crimes, on the other hand a child in a car with the family driver?

Investigators strongly suspect that the assassins may have mistaken their target and that the person they wanted to kill is related to Roan Brahimi's family. His wife in Albania lives in a villa near Lundra, within the same residence where the Demiraj family of the Pelikani society also lives. By a frightening coincidence, she also has an SUV similar to the Demiraj family's - sources say - and what's more, the license plates differ by only one letter.

The assailants may have fired a barrage of bullets at the vehicle in which the Demiraj children, their friend and the driver were traveling, believing that Roan Brahimi's wife and possibly two children were in it. If investigators stick to this line, the assailants' goal may clearly have been to eliminate the entire family of the 32-year-old murdered in Athens within a day: the father, the wife and the children.

Roan Brahimi, whose name seems to link the two assassinations in Lezha and Tirana, is known as a rival of Ervis Martinaj, the missing gambling boss. It is believed that he had conflicts with him precisely over sports betting. On July 17, 2022, Brahimi is suspected of taking revenge by killing his cousin Ervis Martinaj, Brilant Martinaj and 2 others. For this incident, Brahimi was declared wanted by the police, and was not caught until he was killed in Greece in front of his partner and child with him, a parallel relationship since in his homeland he was waiting for his Albanian wife with 2 children.

Brahimi was also wanted for the assassination of July 22, 2022, where Ylli Brahimi, Ervis Martinaj's right-hand man, escaped, but Klisman Preçi was killed in Milot. 2 years later, in March 2024, although wanted for two previous assassinations and never arrested, Roan Brahimi was suspected by the authorities of being behind the execution of Gentjan Bejtje in Larushka, Kruja. Roan's brother-in-law, Ilir Beqaraj, his wife's brother, was arrested as an accomplice for this crime, whom investigators suspect so far may have been the target of the assassination in Tirana.
