A dramatic night in the canton of Lucerne shocked the owners of a luxury car dealership after an expensive Porsche was stolen by thieves.
The incident took place at the showroom in Rickenbach LU, where a Porsche 718 Spyder RS worth around 200,000 Swiss francs was stolen from a garage that sells luxury cars.
According to the account of Milot Berisha, co-owner of the MB Carcente car dealership, it all started around 01:37, when he received a notification on his phone from the system of a Tesla that was in front of the garage.
He checked the live footage and noticed that someone was trying to open the vehicle door. Then, after viewing the cameras inside the building, Berisha realized that unknown persons had entered the garage, albinfo.ch reports.
"People were moving around inside," he stated, adding that he immediately called the police and headed towards the garage.
When he arrived at the scene, he heard the characteristic sound of a green Porsche driving away. The stolen car was a special model, with 500 horsepower, and according to Berisha, it stood out especially for its unique color.
The Lucerne police reacted quickly and, in cooperation with the Aargau cantonal police, managed to arrest three suspects in Dintikon AG. According to the Swiss authorities, they are two Russian citizens and one Frenchman, aged 18 to 21, who do not have a residence in Switzerland.
The Sursee Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the case.
According to Berisha, the thieves had entered through the main entrance by breaking a window with their feet, and then opened the garage door from the inside, writes Albinfo.ch.
He suspects they initially intended to steal two Lamborghinis, as their drawers and interior parts were open, suggesting they were looking for keys. But since keys are not usually kept in the facility, they ultimately chose the Porsche, whose key was located there.
The thieves also used a van to remove a Tesla that was blocking the road and then drove away in the Porsche.
The Porsche was seized and towed by the police, while the damages have not yet been fully assessed. Berisha stated that fortunately it is insured, including the damages to the building.
"I'm just happy they caught them," he concluded, adding that thefts of luxury cars have increased in Switzerland recently.
